The tempo in beats per minute, read straight off the audio — no tapping along, no guessing. The same pass reads the tonality, so the key, its scale and the Camelot code come with it at no extra wait.
This is an estimate off the audio, and it's honest about it. Where any detector, ours included, slips up:
On silence, or a clip too short to measure, you get a plain "couldn't read this" instead of a number — we'd rather show nothing than a confident wrong answer.
