Remove drums from a song isolate or remove, free

Upload a song and get the drums on their own track — pull them out, or keep only them — with every other instrument separated too. Free, no account, no watermark.

Full-quality stems. No account, no per-track fee. Same model and same 192 kbps (or lossless WAV) as the paid tier — tracks up to 15 minutes.

It's a remove drums from a song free online tool and a remove drums from song app in the same browser tab — from a song upload to a download with the drums pulled into their own stem, free on both. A remove drums from a song online result and a remove drums from a song ai model are the same thing here, at the same quality free and paid.

Isolating drums from a song works the same way as removing them — same upload, you just keep the other track instead.

Your upload is deleted the moment the split is finished. Want WAV, play-along mixes or longer tracks? The full tool is on the home page.

Drums on their own track, in or out

StemGrab separates the drums into their own stem, and separates the vocals, bass, guitar, piano and everything else at the same time. So "removing the drums" is really just leaving the drum stem out and keeping the rest — no phase tricks, no muddy leftovers.

How to build a drumless version

There's no single "no-drums" button — StemGrab gives you the parts, and you leave the drums out. Load the other stems (vocals, bass, guitar, piano, other) into any free audio editor or DAW and export them together for a drumless mix.

  1. Open StemGrab and drop your song in.
  2. Download every stem except drums (or grab the zip and delete the drum file).
  3. Import those stems into a DAW or audio editor, lined up from the start.
  4. Export the combined tracks — that's your drumless version.

How cleanly drums separate

Drums are one of the cleanest stems our model produces, so both the isolated drum track and the drop-the-drums workflow work well on most mixes. Drummers wanting to play along should see practise any instrument with stems; to grab a single instrument instead, isolate the bass works the same way. Curious how the separation happens? How AI stem separation works.

Playing along to a drumless track

Practising over a drumless version of a real song is harder than practising to a click, and that difficulty is the entire point. With the original drummer removed you lose the reference you've been unconsciously leaning on, and any tendency to rush the fills or drag the backbeat becomes obvious immediately.

The trick is knowing what to lock onto instead. Use the bass as your anchor rather than trying to feel the beat in the air: bass and drums are cut together on almost every record, so the bass line is already sitting exactly where the kick was. On tracks where the bass is sparse, listen for the guitar or keyboard chord stabs, which usually land on the backbeat. StemGrab also shows the tempo of the song next to the stems, so if you want a safety net you can run a quiet click at that BPM underneath the drumless mix for the first few passes and then drop it.

Work in sections rather than playing the whole song top to bottom. The transitions are where timing falls apart, so loop the four bars around each one until the change stops feeling like a leap. And record yourself over the drumless track at least once: hearing your own playing in place of the original drummer is more informative than any amount of playing along in the moment.

Turn the drums down instead of off

Removing the drums entirely isn't always what you want, and the mixer on the results page gives you the middle ground. Mute the drum stem and everything else keeps playing, so you can hear the drumless mix instantly without downloading anything. Un-mute it and you're back to the full song for reference. Flipping between the two while looping a tricky bar is the fastest way to work out what the original drummer actually played.

You can also go the other way and solo the drums, which is the best transcription tool on the page: the drum part on its own, with no guitars covering the ghost notes or the hi-hat detail. Once you've decided what you need, download selected takes just those stems rather than the full zip.

Two honest limits. Cymbals and hi-hats live in the same frequency range as a lot of guitar and synth detail, so a very cymbal-heavy track can leave a faint wash behind in the drumless version. And an 808 or sub-bass kick often overlaps the bass line so completely that part of it stays with the bass stem: mute both and the low end vanishes, mute only the drums and a little thump may remain. Neither gets in the way of practising.

Different ways to phrase this

This also works as a way to extract drums from song material — pulling just the beat out on its own, as a standalone stem. Others ask how to isolate drums from song audio when they want the opposite: everything except the beat. And how to isolate drums from a song works the same way here — same 192 kbps quality on free and paid. Others add "ai" to be specific about the method: remove drums ai, or remove drums from song ai.

File type comes up too: people want to remove drums from mp3 files specifically, or remove drums from audio that isn't a finished song. Some ask how to remove drums from a sample before flipping it into a new beat. Others want to remove drums from sample material more generally, for production rather than sampling specifically. The plainest version of all is just how to remove drums — no other words needed, and the upload comes back free, no account, ten songs a day. And remove drums from song online free without installing anything describes the whole page: no account, no software, ten songs a day.

A few more ways it gets phrased. As a drum remover ai tool, it separates the drums from a mix automatically, no manual editing. A drums remover here means the drum stem comes out and the rest stays untouched. It's a free drum remover with no account and no watermark on the download. The drum remover free tier runs the same model as the paid one, same 192 kbps output. A drum remover from song audio needs the mixed file only — no pre-split stems required. To separate drums from song material, drop the file in and download the drum stem alone. You can isolate drums from song free of charge, same as removing them. As a drum separator it pulls the same stem whether you keep it or leave it out. The drum separator ai step takes a few seconds to a couple of minutes per song. To split drum material out, upload the song and download the drum stem on its own. You can split drums out entirely or keep only that stem from one upload. A drum extract pulls the same isolated stem the drumless mix leaves out. As a drum isolator ai it keeps just the drum track, muting everything else instead. Every mp3 drum stem downloads at 192 kbps, matching the rest of the split. It works as a drum stem splitter free of charge, same seven stems as always. As a drum splitter it separates drums from the other six stems in one upload. The drum stem separator step runs on our own hardware, not a third-party service. A drum stem splitter here means the same seven-stem split, drums included.

Odds and ends

Can I get a ready-made drumless track in one click?

Not directly — the instrumental stem only removes vocals. StemGrab hands you the drums on their own track and every other instrument separately, and you combine the non-drum stems in any editor to make a drumless mix.

How clean is the drum stem?

Drums are one of the strongest stems the model produces and come out clean on most tracks. Very dense or lo-fi mixes are harder, as with any tool.

What do I download in total?

Seven per song: vocals, drums, bass, guitar, piano, other, and a mixed instrumental (everything except the vocals), all as 192 kbps MP3 plus a zip of the lot.

Is my upload kept?

No. Your upload is deleted the moment it's processed and the stems are wiped from the server within 45 minutes (24 hours if you bought a month pass — that longer window is part of what the pass is for). Nothing is stored, shared or used to train anything — see privacy.

Is this a drum remover?

Yes. StemGrab works as a drum remover by separating the drums into their own stem so you can leave that stem out, and as a drum isolator when you keep only that stem.

How do I remove drums from song files that already have everything mixed together?

Upload the mixed file as it is — you don't need stems already separated to remove drums from song audio; StemGrab does that separation for you and hands back the result without the drum track.

Is there a free way to remove drums from a song?

Yes — StemGrab removes drums for free, with no watermark, no account and no credit card — 10 tracks a day.

Does an AI actually remove the drums, or just mute them?

A real separation model, not a mute or EQ trick — it lifts the drum stem out and hands back the track without it.

Yes — StemGrab runs entirely in your browser. Upload the song, wait a few seconds, and download the drumless version.

Is there a free online tool to remove drums from a song?

Reliable on most modern mixes, and free to use — the model isolates the drum stem cleanly on typical pop, rock and hip-hop tracks.

Can I extract the drums from a song as their own track, the way I would in Audacity?

Yes, and without the manual editing Audacity would need — upload the song and download a dedicated drum stem on its own.

How to remove drums from a song, step by step?

Drop the file into StemGrab above; it separates the mix into stems and hands back every part except drums as a combined download — or the drum stem on its own if that's what you want instead.

Is there one method whatever way I phrase "taking the drums out"?

Every upload returns the drums out as their own stem, alongside vocals, bass, guitar, piano, other and the instrumental mix — seven files in total.

Can I remove drums from any song, or only certain genres?

Any genre goes in the same upload box; pop, rock and hip-hop separate cleanest, while very dense or lo-fi mixes are harder for any tool.

Can I remove drums and vocals from song free, keeping only the other instruments?

Yes — download every stem except drums and vocals and combine what's left (bass, guitar, piano, other) in any editor for a drums-and-vocals-free mix.

Can ai remove drums from a song as cleanly as a human editing engineer?

On most modern mixes, yes for the drum stem itself — the model isolates it directly rather than filtering, so it stays punchy without the phased sound older tricks leave behind.
