A remix is a new song built from someone else's parts. Pull out the acapella and drop it over a fresh instrumental you've made; keep the original drums as a groove to build on, or throw them away and program your own; chop the isolated bass and re-pitch it under new chords. Having each element on its own track is the difference between remixing and just DJ-ing over a full mix — you're rearranging the song, not talking over it.
Bass is usually the cleanest stem to isolate, because it lives in its own frequency range with nothing else competing down there. That makes it ideal for learning a line note-for-note: solo the bass, slow it down in a player, and loop the tricky bar until your fingers find it. It's also the fastest way to transcribe a part or check exactly what note lands on the downbeat, instead of guessing under a wall of guitars.
There's no single "remove the drums" button — a drumless track is just the split with the drum stem left out. Take the vocals, bass, guitar, piano and other stems, drop them into any DAW or even a multi-track player, and mute the drums. Most separation tools hand you four parts: vocals, drums, bass and one bucket called "other" that holds every remaining instrument in a single file. This runs a six-stem model, so guitar and piano are pulled out of that bucket as well — you get vocals, drums, bass, guitar, piano and other, plus the ready-made instrumental.
